The weekend is a blur!

Going on a date night! I'm excited. We've been planning this for quite some time now, but because of B's new position he gets called into work often and our plans get put on hold. I came home from shopping and B said, "we're going out for dinner tonight". I was like, oh with who? Are we going somewhere? And he replied, no as a date night! I cheered! He asked me where I would like to go and I suggested ABC restaurant. That's right girls I'm that classy! He laughed at my suggestion and said, isn't there a 60year old requirement to go there? I can't help that they have the best Thai chicken salad in town and that is what I would like to consume for dinner this evening. He agreed since they do have good beer on tap. So that is where we are going for our date night this evening! Living it up I tell you! I'm not even being sarcastic I am so happy with this choice!

This weekend, even though I was slow moving, I was still able to accomplish a lot. Yesterday I planted 16 more bulbs (that's in addition to 2o something I planted a few weeks ago). Than I finished sewing the seam on my dress for my Halloween costume and I fixed the length in the shoulders since it was sitting pretty high because it was too big (yay! Have I mentioned that since Thanksgiving I've lost 8 pounds?). B had mentioned to me that it was sitting pretty high and that I should fix it. At first I was like, I don't care! I don't want to fix it. But than decided he was right and I didn't want the kiddos I'm working with get an accidental peep show. So I took apart the liner and got to the seam that needed an extra inch closed up. I haven't sewn anything since high school and for that reason I'm pretty happy with the outcome of my handy work. There are a lot of mistakes but it's a Halloween costume and it looks the way it's suppose to so I am happy. I have decided that I will wear shorts underneath it though as I tend to crawl on the floor while I'm at work.

After sewing the dress I watched a movie "with B". Quotations are there because he was in the room but he was still working on the lap top. We watched "Meet the Robinsons". Such a cute movie! Oh...gotta go...I'll finish this up later...got to go on a date now. Ok we're back from our date night. It was so good! I had the Thai chicken salad with an ice tea and B had a pulled pork sandwich. Super yum! It was also nice to have an actual conversation. Than we went to Starbucks and I got a very yummy hazelnut hot chocolate and B got a pumpkin spiced latte. It made me want to drive around and look at Christmas lights. But since tomorrow is Halloween Christmas lights won't be up yet, not until next weekend anyways ;)

I'm so looking forward to Christmas! I really enjoy the holidays! I'm ready to make a gingerbread house, especially since we just got a "bulk barn" down the road which is a lovely store full of candy in bulk! So inspirational! They have everything you can think of, even those chocolate wafers that you use for the roof in multiple colours!!! I'm talking at least 6 different colours! So excited!

I'm also really looking forward to Christmas break! I love that our job is closed down so it's not even an option to work through the holiday!

Wow, so I totally went off on a tangent. I was telling you about this weekend. I finished the weekend off by sleeping in today. Well, I originally got up just before 7am. I did a little internet searching and decided I would just stay up for the day. However, about an hour later my tiredness caught up with me and I went back to sleep (on the couch this time). When I woke up I thought it might have been 9:30 or 10 at the latest. I looked at the clock and it said, 12:23. What?! How in the world did that happen? I haven't slept in that long for who knows how long! I went and woke B up and told him it was 12:30 and he shot up in bed and couldn't believe it either. So needless to say we didn't make it to church today. I had to run out to the store to find some of the finishing touches of my costume, white tights (which I've decided against - I'll just wear some shorts underneath) and red shoes (which I found for fairly cheap). I was happy with my little finds. Than I went to another store and found that all their Halloween candy was 5 dollars cheaper than their competitors same box of candy. So I loaded up! I bought mostly candy that contains nuts in it (because those are B and my favourites and if there's going to be any left overs we may as well enjoy them) and I bought one box of nut free candy for those kiddos with nut allergies and yes I will be asking! I was in a conversation the other day where the person was explaining that their child has to give away a lot of their candy because it contains nuts. How sad for that little one. So I want to be mindful! Than I went grocery shopping and once my people meter overloaded I came home to find B still working. But than as you know we finally got that date!

Well that's all there is to report for now!

The Year End Countdown has begun

Halloween is coming this way. Only 5 more sleeps until the big day. What are you dressing up as? This summer I tried my hand at sewing and made a really cute dress except once it was together I realized it would make a much better costume than a wear out and about dress. Why? Because the fabric is small blue and white checkered. It's really cute, but it looks like a Dorothy from Wizard of Oz or a Little Bo Peep dress. So that is what I'm going as for halloween. I just have to finish the hem and it will be complete. I also need to find some red shoes and white leggings(there's no way I'm wearing a dress to work without leggings or pants on underneath). That will be the mission this weekend! I do choose to accept.

I'm really looking forward to Halloween this year because it's the first year B and I will have trick or treaters at our door. We've lived in the condo for the first two years and even though we had a bowl of candy ready in case the children of the building knocked on our door, never did we get one knock. This year we're guaranteed to get many kiddos. I'm so excited!

Well, that's about all there is to report for today
til next time
Michelle

Countdowns are as follows:

5 more sleeps til Halloween
52 days until Christmas Break
60 days until Christmas
2 months until Boxing Day
70 days until New Years Eve

Weird dreams and Super duper grumpy

Today was a gong show. I came home super grumpy and then there were stupid people not even going the speed limit in the fast lane! There are 3 lanes? What in the world makes you think it's ok to be in the fast lane? Geez! It seemed to take forever to get home, I even bolted off the highway early and went the back way home because the traffic was going 30km in an 80 zone. Not acceptable so my patience (which had already run out from the day) was in negative amounts and that is why I got off the highway and went the back way. Which another person thought of doing to and they too seemed to still be going too slow for my liking. That's when I decided I was grumpy to the point of going home and not emerging into public again until I get some sleep. I had a weird dream last night where Inigo ended up taking off his clothes(a shirt and pants made out of feathers) and then he was bald and stomping his feet in protest to the things going on in his little bird life. Like I said, weird dream! It was extremely weird when he took off his shirt and just wore his pants for a while before taking them off to. So weird. What in the world is going on with my sub-conscience. I also had a dream that I was pregnant and ended up giving birth to a mini-wiener dog. It was a very weird night and I woke up super tired which probably didn't help with my over all day.

Well that's all I've got for an update for today. Sorry it's a downer but that's just the way it is right now. I hope B's not at work until the mid-night hours because that would not help the grumpy situation!

Until next later

All on a Sunday

Today has been a fun and relaxing yet tiring day. I woke up and got my thoughts together, before crawling back into bed to watch a movie. Than I got up for real and got ready for church. On my way I dropped B off at his work. When I got to church I was actually on time but decided to get a hot chocolate and that took me about 15 minutes to do (I had to talk to some of my friends hanging around you know). Once I went into the service there was only about half left. I sat with my cousin and it was fun. We made some funny comments to each other during and we giggled quite a bit.

After church was over I went for lunch with B's parents, his aunt and cousin. We went to Wendy's and I had chicken fingers (a total change from what I usually get). B's cousin Beth commented on why I wasn't eating the ends. My reasoning is that they're too crunchy and I don't like that. Weird I know, but it's the way I roll. After lunch I headed to the mall to pick up one item and then I headed back home.

Once I got home I gathered my gardening tools and I planted 21 bulbs. I still have 16 more to plant but they can wait until next weekend. I already know where I'm going to plant them it just takes a little bit of time which I ran out of today.

My dummy moment of today was that while I was gardening I had the radio on the car going. I didn't even think that it would drain the battery to the point of deadness. But alas, it died. I had to humble myself, go over to the neighbours house (cause they were outside) and asked if they would mind coming over to jump start my car. Oh yoy yoy. I tell ya. Dumb moment. I learned my lesson though and I even told B about it. He of course made fun of me, but quickly forgave me as we picked up some yummy 2 for 1 blizzards from Dairy Queen. We came home and now we sit side by side enjoying each other's company while watching some mindless tv.

We have watched an episode of Up All Night. It is soooo funny. I really enjoyed the peek a boo segment and have to say it worked when I tried it on my nephew last night at Thanksgiving dinner. (I had already seen the episode once and told B about it and because I'm awesome and had recorded it we were able to watch it together and laugh this evening!)

Until next time

From here to there

This past week was an interesting one. From poop-explosions to deal with at work to a quiet evening alone again! First the alone evenings have been caused by B's work having him work crazy hours. Last weekend was so nice because he was forced to take a break. This weekend he has to go in tomorrow to do some work but he took today off and I forgot about all the work that needed to be done outside until he started working out there. He's such a hard worker always on the go. I started cleaning the house inside but quickly got tired and decided to write a blog update instead. I'm also contemplating a nap since I woke up so stinkin' early this morning and we have Thanksgiving dinner with his side of the family this evening. I have to make a salad still but that doesn't take that long. So I might just go sleep in our nice clean, fresh sheets for a few moments.

At work the other day there was a poop-catastrophe. The one little guy I was working with had a poop-splosion and it was nasty! I felt so bad for him cause he looked a little worried and when it was happening I could tell he was so uncomfortable. I wondered why he hadn't eaten any snack (he loves food so this was odd) and when he was cleaning up snack he suddenly stopped moving and his little legs were shaking. I knew something was up and then the smell came. It was pretty bad. One of the other girls, bless her heart, said she could deal with it for me and I wasn't going to let that opportunity pass up. After he was all cleaned up (we don't have a bath so it took a lot of wet wipes and a fresh pair of clothes), he was the happiest little fellow. We had a great rest of the session. Thankfully it was Friday and the weekend was just around the corner.

So far today has brought nothing but relaxation. B and I were being weird and goofing off this morning and I said, "we're so weird" and he replied, "we're normal" and I asked him if we were to knock on all our neighbours doors and ask them if they play the "breathing funny game" with their spouse would they say yes or would they try and have us committed? I think it's safe to say we are weirdo's! But we have so much fun being weirdo's together.

Well, that's all there is to report today
Until next time, stay classy and thanks for stopping by

Thankful for a great trip!

I am hungry. I should make some dinner. It is 6:30 after all. I wish my pretend maid/cook would actually become real and it would magically be made for me. Wouldn't that be nice? Not going to happen. It's not like it's going to be a hard dinner either. I just have to go down to the freezer and pull out some chicken and cook them. Not difficult. Than I have to heat up some corn and we're done. I'm not feeling like any starch today because I had fries earlier in the day. I know, bad, but sometimes you just gotta indulge to remind yourself why you don't.

This past weekend was so much fun. We went to Manitoba for Thanksgiving weekend. It was great! The first day we were there we headed into Brandon (the town I once lived in for 6 years). We went to Humpty's for lunch and met up with my friend Mike and his beautiful wife. We had a great 4 hour visit. Granted that 4 hours was interrupted several times due to people coming up to say hi. After our visit we went for a visit with Ruth-ann (one of my close friends). I finally got to meet her daughter and we had a short but great visit! Than we did a little drive around town and I showed B where I had lived, and where I went to church and that sort of thing. Than we headed to The Green Olive for dinner. It was so nice being back there. B said that all the stories I had told had lived up to what he expected. I was pleased. After dinner we headed back to my mom's place (about an hour outside of Brandon). When we got there we pretty much went straight to bed.

Sunday marked Thanksgiving Day. We didn't get up for church. It was the first time B had the opportunity to sleep in since July so he took advantage of it. It was a great bedside baptist type of day. When my mom got home from church we started preparing things for dinner. I made the yams and that was my only contribution. Not because I didn't offer, but everything else had already been taken care of. After everything was ready we carted it off to my Aunty's house. When we walked in almost everyone was there already. It was so much fun, lots of mocking and goofing around and even a mini-fake food- fight. (Throwing the fake apples). It was a very yummy dinner. So many different things that ended up complimenting each other very nicely.

Monday was a lazy day. We slept in and then just lazed around. We watched a movie and then headed over to one of the neighbours house where B went horse back riding. He really enjoyed it. He said that the country side they went down was beautiful and that the changing of colours was awesome! He said, "I can see the attraction to this part of the country". While he was out horseback riding I went over to my Aunts house and had a fun visit. After B was done horseback riding we (my mom and I) went to pick him up. Than we went back to my mom's house and continued into the evening watching movies.

Tuesday we woke up a little later than we expected. We were about half hour off schedule. But we were in the country and what is time anyways. We met up with my mom and Aunt and went down to the local Subway for a quick bite to eat before we headed back to Winnipeg. (They just got the Subway and it's a very big deal! It's about a 15 min drive from my mom's place.) After our lunch we did our goodbyes and then we headed into Winnipeg. We had a couple of hours before we had to be at the airport so we headed down to The Forks and walked around the market and the river. It was a really nice day and it was perfect for walking around. Shortly after our walk was done we headed towards the airport and said goodbye to Manitoba, hopefully we will go for a visit again soon.

Until next time
Michelle.

Sick and Whiney

Today is Tuesday and I am sick. Boo to being sick. I become very wussy when I'm ill. It's nothing serious, just a nasty headcold, earache and the runs. I woke up in the middle of the night (mid-night) and couldn't get back to sleep for more than a couple of hours due to the discomfort my body was putting me through. Finally I fell back asleep at 2am. Luckily I had gone to bed at 7:30 last night because I could feel myself fighting something off.

This morning I woke up early to get dinner in the crockpot and as I stood up I decided today just wasn't going to happen. I called in sick for the first time this year. Luckily she had anticipated my call, since yesterday I was already on a downslope. So today is a bed rest kind of day with chicken noodle soup and tea. I hate being sick. Did I mention that I get super whiney and annoy myself.

My left ear really hurts :( (It's not an ear infection type of hurt, just a really annoying dull roar).

Until next time

Announcement (written sometime in September)

On September 22, I took a test. It came out positive! I was in shock! I was over joyed, I was confused and scared. I will have another update on that whole process at a later time. Having had a miscarriage this brought on a huge amount of emotion and fears. I would go to the washroom every so often just to make sure nothing was wrong. I am a bit of a nervous wreck but excited at the same time. Having been down that road it has robbed me of a care-free pregnancy. I have got to learn to surrender my worries and allow God to handle it. I have been praying with all my heart that this baby sticks and that in early June we will welcome the newest member in our family. Inigo is ready to be a big brother! (Inigo is our bird).

At this time we ask that no one post anything on facebook. For sensitivity reasons we want to keep it semi-private and we thank you for your respect at this time.

Have a very Merry Chirstmas!
Michelle

Another update, this time Spokane

I was looking over my last few blog posts and realized I never posted about my birthday weekend.

We went down to Spokane with B's parents, two of his brothers and their families. It was a lot of fun. I wish I had taken a picture of our hotel room because it was so slanted. Literally slanted. I joked that they should really decorate the room like a Dr. Seuss room. They would be able to get more money for it being a theme room and they wouldn't have to fix the structure of the building. There was one night when I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom and as I walked to the washroom I had a serious case of vertigo. It was like I had drank a whole glass of wine.

The first night we were there (which was my birthday) we went to the Spaghetti factory for dinner. It was really yummy and they had put us in the basement with nobody around so it was quiet and quite lovely with 3 kids (two in which are at the walking stage). They had the luxury of walking around as much as they wanted since we were the only ones in this large room. Of course B embarrassed me by getting the server to bring dessert and singing. Red face alert! This is why I usually avoid going out for dinner on my actual birthday. But it was fun and I got to keep the glass I was drinking out of as part of the deal. Didn't have to sneak it out this time ;) Just kidding. Can't say I've ever taken anything from a restaurant.

We followed up dinner by going to a really great store called "World Market". It was awesome! They had everything and anything there that was from different parts of the world. I really enjoyed it there.

On Saturday we started out the day with shopping. After lunch I decided to go back to the hotel and have a quick nap since I was so wiped from the day before with travelling and shopping (shopping takes a lot out of me, I'm not a shopper). After my nap it was dinner time and we met up with everyone at the Outback restaurant. After dinner we did some more shopping(did I tell you this was going to be a shopping trip?) We found a couple of things that we wanted to purchase and did just that. Including finding something to fill the void above our bed. I really like it. I should take a picture of it. That would be smart. hmm...

There, I took a couple of pictures and you didn't even notice the time go by. I like how it compliments the comforter design. I'm such a nerd. Anyways, back to our trip. Each night as we were settling for the evening we would choose a room to socialize in and visit with each other until late in the evening. The next day, Sunday was another shopping day. We went to another district to check out their shopping mall. Than we all headed downtown to the park because they had an event going on called "Pig Out in the Park" where a number of different vendors were set up and you could have your choice of any type of food. I ended up having Chinese food which I hadn't had in a long time. It was really good. We walked around the park and just relaxed. It was a great Sunday afternoon. After our park adventure one of B's brothers and his family headed back to Kelowna. We stayed and continued on with shopping. I was able to find some new clothes for work and B was able to find some new clothes as well. It was a very successful shopping day. We went to Red Lobster for dinner that evening. I had a delicious salmon with lots of broccoli. B and his mom both had an arrangement of crab legs and some other type of fish. After dinner we headed back to the hotel to have a quiet evening. It was wonderful.
The following day we headed back to Kelowna. The trip is a nice drive and I really enjoyed it. Going down we got stuck behind a line up of classic cars, I'm assuming were going to a car show. They were going soooo slow! After passing about 15 of them (all at different times) our journey was more smooth sailing. Going home we didn't run into any classic cars, however, we did get stuck behind one inconsistent driver which became annoying after a while. Finally they turned off and it was back to smooth sailing.
That concludes our Spokane trip. It was a blast and I'm looking forward to it next summer (hopefully).
Until next time

Fall has come

Fall has officially began. It's October first and delightfully miserable outside. I love the colours of fall and the things it entails. I am excited that it's less than 3 months until Christmas and yes I have already started doing my Christmas shopping. It's such a fun time of year. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. It's only one week away. Is it me or did it come super early this year? The states don't celebrate theirs until November and it seems to me that we usually celebrate it closer to the end of October than the beginning, but maybe I'm mistaken. I'm just babbling now.

Yesterday at work I was working with a little ray of sunshine and he made me laugh. He was introduced to one of the new OT's and she has a thick accent. He was looking at pictures of elmo being in/on/under/between...etc-learning prepositions. She said, "which picture is unda" (her acccent) and he stopped and looked at her and said, "It's not unda, it's under!" It was so flippin funny! The kids I work with are hilarious! They have such sweet personalities and such funny humour! I am really loving my job and this year it seems to be so much more relaxed than last year. It wasn't until they changed the layout of the day this year that I realized just how stressful last year was. When you're in the midst of it you don't see how bad you are struggling until you are out of it and able to look back into the storm.

I am feeling fresh and revived this year so far. I am feeling more confident in my job. I feel like I'm asking more questions and understanding the answers. My mind is so much more clear this year than it was last year.

Medical update: my body has finally started to respond to the prescriptions I'm on and is slowly returning to normal. This is such an answer to prayer! My mind is feeling more clear and I'm joyful again!

Sorry it's taken me so long to write an update. I have had a few on my mind, just finding the time to actually sit down and write them is where I'm having difficulty. I will try to make October my largest updating month so far this year. That is my goal.

Time to go curl up under a blanket and read or watch a movie, or put a photo album together

Until next time,
Michelle
